ghosted violin w/ electronics
A piece for violin and drone.
the original piece is written for violin and drones on strings. In the initial recording sessions all tracks were recorded seperately. When I came back around to double the violin I found myself unable to match the original takes timing. This had the unintended effect of "ghosting" the melody as the second violin would drift in and out of phase with the main violin. I enjoyed the result so much that I have kept it in the piece.
the ghosted violin is now provided by a delay with a variable delay time. It is moving from unison to twenty seconds of drift. The drone is built up from granular samplers that are played into a Time Lag Accumulator arrangement with a digital emulation of a tape delay.
