Several years ago I recorded a performance, or perhaps a gesture, to a tape. It was derived from a feedback loop made out of a diy spring reverb circuit I ‘designed’ through a bandpass filter I also ‘designed’ (they ‘worked’) The whole of the piece is a manipulation of the resonance quality factor on the filter. One knob.
One day I put on headphones, and while listening to this piece, I performed with my camera. Filming a gesture in response to the sounds I was hearing.
This piece can be found on my album Nuage which I created some time ago now. But it has always held a special place in my artistic heart. It is also a piece of sound manipulation I could always see, but never quite knew how I could show. Now I feel I have finally succeeded.
