pardon the mess. currently in the midst of a site rebuild.
◦◦◦◦    /   ◦◦◦◦   /   ▭ ◦        I had a bit of an epiphany this week. One of those moments where the fog clears, and you can feel the way thigs ought to be.
Unfortunately this was only in regard to how I might construct this website. Not the most helpful thing for the world. But a cathartic exercise for myself.
The thing that was troubling regarding the way this site could be designed and laid out was how web-like and tangled it could become. There is javascript, supercollider, processing, videos, text, images, albums, etc. Already, in this early phase of redisgn it has been very easy to break and knot things up requiring a teardown and rewrite to the whole space. One of the reasons there is so little to be seen here at the moment.
Then the idea came to think of the website as a console, with each section as a cartridge. Harkening back to an earlier era of technology. With this mindset, how to construct the frame work and the items that are to be presented has become crystal clear.
The fog breaks. Now the way is visible

◦◦◦◦    /   ◦◦◦   /   ▭ ◦        I gave a talk today, to the Exposure Therapy cohort, regarding my approach to art and in particular the album errant. the talk was titled the art of surrender as a way to express some of my ideas on non dicatatorial creation. Below are the notes I took in the lead up to the actual talk. But were abandoned, for the most part, when I began speaking. Since the recording of the talk will remain private for the time being I felt sharing my notes here might be worthwhile.
Perhaps I will collect some of my other talks and make a page dedicated to these events. I am quite grateful to have had this opportunity. It is my hope that you may find some extra courage in your endeavors from some of the ideas below.

At the moment I just have the most recent album available, errant, but it does come with a generative film. This means that every time you will play the album, the film that accompanies it will be generated at that time, no two play throughs will be the same.
This was done in response to the static nature of a recorded album. Everytime you play the album, all the sounds will be exactly the same, a very unnatural phenomena, and one I wish to avoid when possible. Now, when accompanied with this generative film, it may allow the listener to latch onto different movements and rhythms that were not present on previous playthroughs, but really, is anybody listening to this more than once? In any event, the possibility is now here.
Granted, at the time of this writing, I have yet to complete the films for all of the tracks but this is the first thing on my list to complete before moving on with the next phases of this site rebuild.
So then, what is in store... first thing, generative material. I really hope to make this space dynamic and worth revisting. To that end, the albums that have been released as static objects, will receive dynamic films and visuals to take the edge off of the sameness. In addition I hope to more properly realize the dynamic generative work that has already been created previously, but with little ability to share in all its "glory".
That is what is happening with the old work, but there is much new work in store. As I work backwards through my ouvre I will continue to move forward and present the new projects. As things exist in wip form I will use this journal space to put down my thoughts, failures and victories( small and large) as I work through them.
Some of the things that are currently in progress...
Looking forward to sharing these and other projects as they come to the fore.
