errant

recorded near the end of winter. the seasons snow had melted, but a new blanket was laid out across the landscape. the days were stretching out their fingers into the nights. the moon bled out.

the pieces here were performed with an instrument named _awed. a harmonic series aggregator. written in supercollider, deployed to norns, performed with grid. an instrument that subverts the agency of the performer and insists upon a slowing down of gestures. the idea of speed exists within the sound itself, through the beating of tones or the accumulation of the harmonics over time. it asks the performer and spectators both to consider each piece of the spectra that is added to the sound and lets them wander through, errantly, as they unfold.
